In El Calafate you will find yourself at the gateway to the majestic world of glaciers. This town is near Lake Argentino , a green water surface covering 1600 km2, with a length of 60 km ., a width between 12 and 14 km ., and depths from 35 m . in Feruglio on the coast and centre, to 300 m . in the Avellaneda Peninsula. El Calafate presents a dry climate, with an average maximum temperature of 19ºC, and an average minimum in winter of -2º. In summer the sun rises at 5.30am and sets at 11pm. In winter the day is shorter, there are only 8 hours of light. El Calafate is the main supplier of the area, a city of around 8,000 inhabitants on a surface of 155,000 hectares , with rivers and creeks draining into the Atlantic Ocean through the Santa Cruz River . Los Glaciares National Park covers a surface of some 600,000 hectares with 47 glaciers, such as the Marconi, the Viedma, the Moyano, the Upsala, the Agassiz, the Bolado, the Onelli, the Peineta, the Spegazzini, the Mayo, the Ameghino, the Moreno and the Frías, all of them draining into the Atlantic . From El Calafate, you can go on excursions by bus or in modern ships. Tours and outings to the classical viewpoint of the Perito Moreno Glacier or the audacious expeditions to cross the glaciers can be organized. The International Airport of El Calafate, inaugurated on 17th November, 2000, receives direct flights from Buenos Aires , Trelew, Bariloche, Puerto Natales, and other cities.

Day 1 Buenos Aires
Transfer from international airport to Hotel.

A three and a half hour sightseeing tour visiting: Plaza de Mayo, Government House, Cathedral, Columbus Square, La Boca district, San Martín Square, Santa Fé Avenue, Recoleta Cemetery, Grand Bourg Square, Palermo Chico district, Polo grounds, Horse Race Track, Palermo Park, Rose Garden, Libertador Avenue, Congress Hall, 9 de Julio Avenue, and the famous Colon Theatre Opera House. Discover the beauty and wonders of Buenos Aires , view the National Congress, The Metropolitan Cathedral next to the Government House in may square area. Admire the Colon Theatre, one of the most important opera houses in Latin America . Visit San Telmo, traditional neighbourhood where Tango performances can be seen in many bars and restaurants. Stop at La Boca colourful neighbourhood, which was, seat of immigrants - manly Italians - and now home of some artists. Enjoy Palermo , an area that combines its architecture and history with entertainment and amusement in its green spaces. Finally, La Recoleta , an exclusive and elegant neighbourhood where the famous cemetery is found. Although it may seem unusual, fashionable restaurants, bars, cafes, discos and a cinema complex also surround the area.

Day 2 Buenos Aires / Iguazu Falls
Breakfast and transfer to the airport to take a flight to Iguazu Falls . Arrival in Iguazu Falls and transfer to hotel.

Argentinean Falls Tour: In guarani language, the term "Iguazú" means "great waters". It established in 1984 as Natural World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Situated in Iguazú National Park , in the north of the province OF Misiones , these falls are shared by Brazil and Argentina . Iguazú River is born in Paraná state in Brazil . This river runs through a smooth geography until it reaches a series of faults, and suddenly an 80 m . canyon in the Devil's Throat where the water produces a thundering sound and then drains into the Parana river . There are more than 270 falls in an area where cliffs and islets are scattered in a half moon. From the visitors center you can walk around trails or in a picturesque train. There are two basic circuits: an upper path and a lower path. The lower path leads to the base of the falls, where the spray moistens visitors. It is a unique experience, worth daring the adventure. Leaving from Cataratas station, we go to the footbridge on the upper part of the river. We get to the balcony on the Devil's Throat, the biggest fall with such a big flow of water that you will be overcome by the grandeur of the scenery.

Day 3 Iguazu Falls / Puerto Madryn
Breakfast ans transfer to airport to take a flight to Trelew. Arrival in Trelew and transfer to Puerto Madryn.

Day 4 Puerto Madryn - Peninsula Valdes
Breakfast.

Full Day tour Peninsula Valdes: The Valdés Peninsula is one of the most important wildlife reserves in Argentina , jutting out into the sea and joining the firm earth through the Carlos Ameghino isthmus. The peninsula's landscape is arid and in the desert the outstanding feature are the low-lying Salinas Grandes (salt lakes) below sea level. Several guanacos, theas and maras can be seen loping along the road, and there also are many sheep farms on the island. The Peninsula 's main attraction is to be found on its coasts -mainly cliffs- and surrounding waters. There is an elephants seal colony at Punta Delgada (½ September to ½ April). The Golfo Nuevo is the breeding ground for Southern Right whales (½ July to ½ December - an about 1 ½ hs optional navigation departing from Puerto Pirámides, a small tourist resort, which allows passengers to approach the whales until almost touching them, and move among them while they whistle and play; an unforgettable experience). On the Isla de los Pájaros (an islet in the Gulf San José) there is a marine bird reserve, where there are Kelp gulls and cormorants.

Day 5 Puerto Madryn / Ushuaia
Breakfast and transfer to the airport to take a flight to Ushuaia. Arrival in Ushuaia and transfer to hotel.

Tierra del Fuego National Park Excursion: It was created in 1960. It is the southernmost park in Argentina . In a half-day tour we will meet its forests and fauna while driving along National Route 3 until we get to Lapataia Bay . In accordance with the mountains' hugeness, the sea and valleys, the flora and fauna outline outrageous landscapes that we will discover little by little while we enjoy air purity, silence and sounds in this magic land.

Day 6 Ushuaia / El Calafate
Breakfast.

Beagle Channel Excursion on board: This is a 2-hour and a half catamaran sailing in the Beagle Channel in which we will see Sea Lions' and Birds' Islands as well as Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse; all of them embellished by the typical nature in the area. We will sail in new comfortable ships from which we will have one of the best views of the southernmost city in the world and the mountains that surround it as well, while in Ushuaia Bay .

Transfer from hotel to airport to take a flight to El Calafate. Arrival in El Calafate and transfer to hotel.

Day 7 El Calafate
Breakfast.

Perito Moreno Excursion: Moreno Glacier is the most important of the 13 glaciers in Los Glaciares National Park and a worldly known attraction for the incredible breaking of the ice. Along your way you will pass by Cerro de los Elefantes and then arrive at the access gate to the National Park. Then you will see Brazo Rico of Lake Argentino on your left and the first forests of lengas, cypresses, guindos, calafates and alerces, and if you are lucky, you may also see some grey fox, guanaco, armadillo, red fox or puma. After Curva de los Suspiros (photograph) where you will see the glacier for the first time, and contemplate astonished this 70 m . ice wall of a thousand blue tones. You can reach the glacier walking while following the signs on the trails and viewpoints, and you will feel in your skin the unique sensation of the glacier. Nature here offers a unique experience of infinite peace, unpolluted air, and the silence of immensity only interrupted by the movement of the glacier when its immense blocks of ice fall in Canal de los Témpanos in an astounding clamour.
