The highest and most famous fall, the "Garganta do Diabolo" reaches a height of 64 meters ( 200 foot ), while the others reach a height of about 30 to 40 meters ( 100 foot ). Day 3 Iguazu Falls
Breakfast and Full Day Tour San Ignacio Ruins with Lunch: 250 kilometers from Iguassu Falls , the region of "Missiones" was stage for a fascinating but sad bit of history. In the seventeenth century, the Jesuits founded the Guarani Republic , which was an ill-fated experiment for a utopian society in South America . The brutal policy of colonial Spain and Portugal condemned the Guarani Republic to destruction.

Visit the ruins of San Ignacio, which are among the most well conserved of this period and preserve baroque traits with innumerous stone sculptures. The communal houses, churches and buildings, invaded by the jungle, stand in mute testimony to the grandness of the Guarani dream. One can almost hear the Indian children murmuring among the stonewalls.

The trip up to the ruins is via a paved highway winding through the picturesque Argentine countryside with its Mate-Tea plantations and exceptionally well-preserved tropical rainforest. Enroute we visit a working open air gemstone mine.

Overnight at Sheraton International Iguazu Hotel.
