Morro de São Paulo, Bahia, BrazilThis peaceful fishing village is situated on the headland at the northernmost tip of Tinharé Island (1 hour flight from Salvador). Lush with ferns, palms and birds of paradise this island has lots of good walking and horseback riding tours. The town is dominated by the lighthouse and the ruins of a colonial fort, built in 1630 as a defense by the Portuguese against other European raiders. From the lighthouse, a path leads to a ruined lookout with beautiful panoramic views of the 3 big beaches and the lush green vegetation of the island. Lovely sunsets can be seen from the old fort and dolphins can sometimes be seen jumping through the waves. From Morro de Sao Paulo, day trips are offered to other beautiful and tranquil neighboring islands. |

Salvador, Bahia, BrazilSalvador is the third largest city in Brazil and is becoming the most visited travel destination in Brazil. Salvador is also one of the most famous historical cities in Brazil and the Pelourinho, the historic district, will make you travel back to the early years when colonialism and slavery were still alive. The beautiful colonial architecture of this part of the city is witness to this citys rich past. The Pelourinho is considered a national treasure, and is also protected by UNESCO as a Historical Heritage Site.
