Discover Patagonia, Chile, with this exciting 4 day /3 night package that includes 2 nights in Puerto Natales, located along side the 'Last Hope' fjord and 1 night in Punta Arenas, the capital of the Patagonia region. This Patagonia Package also includes accommodations with daily breakfast, tours and transfers.
The rainy season, low temperatures, and the cold wind makes this part of the world one of the hardest and severe places to live. Due to its conditions, it is often called the 'green desert', the name first given to the region by explorer Charles Darwin.
Punta Arenas, with over 120,000 inhabitants, has the only airport, built along side the Magellan Strait, across the island of 'Tierra del Fuego'.
250 kilometers north, you will find the city of Puerto Natales, located along side the 'Last Hope' fjord. From this point, trips to 'Balmaceda' and 'Serrano' glaciers are scheduled.
North of Puerto Natales, you will encounter the famous 'Torres del Paine' National Park. It is a great outdoors paradise- suitable for trekking, walking and camping. Many lakes are part of this park: Pehoé, (crystal clear waters), Nordenskjold, Sarmiento, Toro and Grey, where there is a glacier with the same name. Visitors can also enjoy the views of icebergs close to the shoreline. Wildlife is abundant and diverse: condors, guanacos, ñandúes and foxes, birds of several species can be found, and perhaps a Chilean puma. Rivers along this region are suitable for great fishing trips and the rocky mountains are a climbers' dream.
Tierra del Fuego is rarely visited by land. Travelers prefer to do it by sea. Cruise ship offers many circuits through the channels and fjords, allowing you to discover many points of interest and glaciers at the 'Cordillera de Darwin', going ashore is done by 'zodiac' boats.
The extreme meteorological conditions require you to bring suitable clothing.
